Expression

Use this dialog to edit and test expression for structured string data.

Combined string expression

Enter the expression. Use # character to mark a string placeholder. Between # characters or beginning or ending of string, enter a regular expression that matches the data that separates the string.

If you click the plus button on the right side of the expression edit, a popup dialog will show up. This dialog lets you easily add regular expression parts and show online help about regular expressions.

If you want to test the expression you entered, click the Show tester button. This will expand the dialog to show the tester.

Enter sample text to be processed and click Process

Enter here the sample string that matched the expression above. Click the Process button to check the string. If the string matches the expression, the dialog will show the extracted strings in the Result list.
