Start View Option

Start View Option

Use this dialog to specify what items are shown on the start view.

Visible items

Specifies the start view items that are visible. Possible values are:

Item Description
Open and create controls If checked, the start view contains buttons to open and create projects.
Recent projects If checked, the start view contains the Recent Projects panel that shows you the project files that you have recently opened.
Packages If checked, the start view contains the Packages panel that shows team-related packages. This is visible only if you have attached to one or more teams.
News If checked, the start view contains the News panel that shows product news.
Samples If checked, the start view contains the Samples panel that let you quickly open and browse Soluling samples.

By default, all the above items are checked.

Samples that are shown

Specifies if what kind of sample groups are shown on the samples panel. Possible values are:

Item Description
Platform samples
If checked, the platform sample groups are shown on the samples panel. Platform samples are grouped according to platforms: Android, Delphi, iOS, Windows Forms, etc.
Feature samples If checked, the feature sample groups are shown on the samples panel. Features samples are grouped according to platforms: Message, Plurals, Images, Language change, etc.

Visible platform samples

Specifies the platform sample groups that are shown on the samples panel.

Visible features samples

Specifies the feature sample groups that are shown on the samples panel.

Item Description
Simple samples
Shows simple samples that are meant to be the first samples to be studied when learning internationalization and localization.
Driving samples Shows driving samples that calculate driving distance.
Message samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to localization dynamic messages.
Plural samples As above but messages contain pluralized data such as "1 file" vs. "2 files".
Image samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to localize images.
Font samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to localize fonts.
Data resource samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to localize data resources such as XML and JSON resources.
Bi-directional samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to localize into bi-directional languages such as Arabic and Hebrew.
Input method (IME) samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to customize input method editors on Asian languages.
Language change samples Shows samples that demonstrate how to perform runtime language switch.
