WebVTT File Localization and Internationalization |
WebVTT (Wikipedia) is a subtitle file format (.vtt) that web browsers use with the HTML <track> element. Soluling Desktop and Soluling Cloud support WebVTT files.
WEBVTT NOTE This is a sample 00:00:01.600 --> 00:00:03.200 Hello world. 00:00:04.900 --> 00:00:06.999 This is a sample subtitle.
The file starts with the WEBVTT header. Each subtitle has a time range and one or more lines of text. Soluling localizes the text. The notes (NOTE) are not localized. Read subtitle localization to learn how to localize subtitle files with Soluling Desktop and Soluling Cloud, and when to use segmentation.
GitHub and <data-dir>\Samples\WebVTT contain the following samples. Each .ntp file is a Soluling project that localizes the subtitle file into Finnish.
| File | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Simple.vtt Simple.ntp |
Three subtitles that each contain complete sentences. | Try this first! |
| SimpleSegment.vtt SimpleSegment.ntp |
The same text as above, but the sentences continue over the subtitles. The project uses segmentation. | |
| Segment.vtt Segment.ntp |
A longer subtitle file that uses segmentation and a maximum line length. | |
| Note.vtt Note.ntp |
Subtitles and notes. |
